This rapé is made by the Shawadawa tribe in Brazil and is one of the stronger varieties. The main ingredient is an herb the Indians call Kapayuba. This Rapé was made during the full moon with Tsunu ash and the Kapayuba plant, and also contains Mapacho tobacco.

Shawãdawa

The Shawãdawa live in the Jurua River region in four territories. Today, the main goal of the Shawãdawa is to protect the forest from which they produce this rapé, as well as to preserve their unique culture and the teachings of their ancestors. Rapé is a very important component for them.

The Shawãdawa are part of the Pano linguistic family, as are the Yawanawa, Puyanawa, Kaxinawa, Jaminawa, Deadawa, Kuntanawa and many others. The word “shawã” refers to the Arara parrot, and “dawa” means family, so it is actually a “family of parrots”.
