This plant has the common name yohimbe and Latin names: Corynanthe yohimbe (more often) and also Pausinystalia yohimbe. It belongs to the Rubiaceae family. It is a tropical evergreen tree that grows up to 30 meters tall. It grows in the African forests, and the indigenous peoples have used it for centuries as an effective natural aphrodisiac, in some African tribes it was considered a sacred plant and used ceremonially.

Using Yohimbe leads to increased sexual arousal, can help with impotence, and improves general sexual problems in both men and women. Yohimbe works primarily to increase libido and in the area of the spinal cord that controls erection, which can lead to longer and better erections and stronger ejaculation. It improves the quality of sperm and also intensifies the sexual experience in both sexes. The first effects begin to appear after approximately 80 minutes, which may be accompanied by sweating, itching of the genitals or nausea. However, these side effects disappear after a while, and a person can then enjoy only sexual intoxication, which can last up to several hours.

However, Yohimbe does not have to be used as a helper in bed, it is also a proven helper for exhaustion, depression or as a weight loss aid.

The main component that has been isolated from the plant and described as the main aphrodisiac agent is the alkaloid yohimbine and other related alkaloids yohimbilene and ajmaline. According to the literature, yohimbine is represented in the bark of the tree in values of around 1%, which is why some prefer extracts of this plant.

Use

If you buy whole pieces of bark, you’ll probably need to crush it first. Use either a hammer, a mortar or a quality mixer for this. If you want to save yourself some work, we also offer finely crushed, ready-made shredded bark.

Shredded bark

Pour 1 teaspoon per cup of tea with boiling water or boil for about 5 minutes. Next, let it rest for 5-10 minutes, then strain and drink.
