Mimosa tenuiflora, syn. Mimosa hostilis is a thorny shrub from the bean family (Fabaceae), found abundantly in the northeastern region of Brazil (Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Bahia) and southern Mexico in the regions of Chiapas and Oaxaca. It is most often found in the lowlands, but it can also be found at an altitude of 1000 meters.
Part of the plant: bark from the trunk, i.e. from the above-ground part of the bush (ie not from the root).
A delicious tea can be prepared from the bark of the mimosa, it tastes pleasantly sour. It has relaxing and sedative effects.
It helps balance the internal organs and aids detoxification. It does not have hallucinogenic effects compared to the bark from the root part.
