Fall in love with the distinctive taste of dark chocolate, nuts and tropical fruits.
The coffee is hand-processed from planting the first seed to the final roasting of only nicely ripe cherries, produced with love for nature and without chemicals.
Mrs. Alena Antonovičová imports coffee to Europe and from here we distribute it further.
More than fair trade – the people of the Arhuacos tribe are our direct business partners. Thanks to the profits obtained from the sale of coffee, we give them the opportunity to continue their efforts to restore the natural balance in the region and around the world.
The right place
It’s morning and we wake up in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Height approx. 1,600 m above sea level. After a cool night, a thick fog rises, followed by condensing rain during the day, which waters the local plants.
The El Niño phenomenon causes great damage elsewhere, but here it has a beneficial effect. It supports the growth and cultivation of plants such as coffee and cocoa.
These plants are located here next to each other and this brings great benefits. Coffee trees grow in the shade of native trees, which protect them from direct sunlight and at the same time retain moisture, which has an excellent effect on its cultivation and subsequent taste.
The right approach
Coffee cherries are picked by hand and only once a year. The plant is therefore not as exhausted as if it were harvested several times a year. The mission and task of the Indians is to protect the mountains and nature not only where they live, but they also spiritually maintain balance all over the world. Each collection is therefore preceded by a rigorous ritual.
It goes without saying that the entire coffee processing process takes place without the use of any modern technology or chemistry.
Everything is alive and worthy of respect for the Arhuacos – every ant, water, stone and leaf.
The right thing
The Sierra Nevada de Marta area is not the original area of the Arhuacos tribe. With the arrival of the Spanish, they were forced to leave their homes and inhabit these cold mountains, where they survived in silence for four centuries. Unfortunately, even now their future is threatened.
Thanks to the sale of this coffee and the foundation we have established, they receive direct help and a chance to get their territories back. We have already managed to buy several plots of land and we have many more planned.
