Rapé Blend Nukini Catinga from Brazil

Our friend Rafa sent us the Nukini Roses rapé blend from the Brazilian Indians of the Nukini tribe. It is very soft and strong at the same time, it has a multi-layered effect.

This rapé is traditional from the Nukini tribe of Brazil, it is made from the ash of the sacred Samauma tree, which is added to strong Moi tobacco (the strongest type of Mapacha tobacco) and dry white rose powder, creating a very special mixture. It is soft, fragile, but also deep. The Samauma tree, or Kapok, botanically (Ceiba pentandra) from the mallow family (Malvaceae) is one of the largest trees in the Amazon, it is one of the biggest guardians and protectors of the jungle (see rapé Katukina Samauma).

In the Nukini tribe, this rapé is often used in dance ceremonies to give the natives harmony and focus to better blend in with the music and dance. This rapé is a rare blend thanks to the only Nukini tribe that uses and shares it.

Nukini Indian tribe

Along the lush green banks of the Poa River live a very special group of people, an Indian tribe known as the Nukini. Their language comes from the Pano language family. The tribe numbers only 900 people and inhabits the deepest “heart” of the Amazon in the Acre region. A large number of medicinal plants grow there, and traditionally women are mainly involved in the collection and preparation of medicine. Rapé is a sacred amazonian tool. The native tribes are passing it to us with a following message: “The use of rapé should always be connected with a prayer or the ritual.
