Wood of the Banisteriopsis Caapi liana contains so called MAO-inhibitors, which are used for inducing the cleansing processes and for the communication with the spiritual world in the traditional healing systems.
The beverage made from the combination of caapi with other herbs is called “Ayahuasca” (read [aya-waska]), “Yage” (read [yache]), “Natem”, or “the Soul liana” etc.
