Have you ever had Absinthe? It is a formerly very popular alcoholic drink that was widely drunk by bohemian artists such as Oscar Wilde, Paul Verlaine, Toulouse Lautrec or Vincent van Gogh, who allegedly cut off his ear under the influence of absinthe.
With this (almost) complete set, you can make absinthe at home from now on. All you need additionally is a neutral alcoholic drink, such as vodka. Maybe it could work with our homemade plum juice as well.
Ingredients
- Melissa officinalis
- Illicium verum (star anise)
- Pimpinella anisum
- Artemisia absinthium (wormwood)
- Foeniculum vulgare (fennel)
- Coriandrum sativum (coriander)
Alcoholic beverage is not part of the product.
Instructions for preparation
Add all the spices to 0.5 liters of an alcoholic drink that has at least 40% alcohol (for example, vodka). Screw the cap back on the bottle and shake the alcohol and herbs for a minute. Let the bottle sit for 14 days during which you shake the bottle for a minute each day.
After 14 days, the Absinthe drink is ready, just strain it. Strain through a fine sieve (such as a coffee filter or a cloth handkerchief) and pour into another container and you are ready to consume.
