Lokta paper

Lokta paper is made from the bark of the Daphne bush (Nepali name: Lokta), which grows in the Himalayas. The bark grows back naturally and can be harvested again over time without damaging the bush. Sustainable harvesting method.

Lokta paper making is an ancient Nepalese craft. Today, the production is mainly done by illiterate Nepali women who can fend for themselves.
